And then there were... 4...

Transfers came and turns out my comp is moving to a place way close to my last area. I will miss her so much! She really loved the people here and helped this area and me so much.

I'm getting a new companion and we found out yesterday that we will also have two new missionaries who will do their 3 week MTC here. That means that I get to introduce 3 new people to as many people as we can up in Danshui all while teaching two of them how to do missionary work and splitting up the work even though none of them have really met anyone here... We have 3 weeks... Trainees come tomorrow... ADVENTURE.

Other than that, this week we saw a lot of miracles! Danshui is a super special place. A few of our friends who missionaries have been teaching for a long time are finally improving! It's pretty amazing to see how these teachings really can mend family relationships.
Along with that, our lessons the have more of the Spirit and the language is getting smoother... To be honest I don't really know why haha it's been a LONG trip and we are grateful.

We kept weeding and actually ate watermelon! Just thought I'd add that because it's been SO long~

It's been a great week and we are STOKED for the miracles that are gonna happen this next transfer.
Love you, Stay safe!

my comp 要小心哦

I touched my eyes after touching a spicy radish but other than that I'm doing okay~

·This week the one and only legend 顧姐妹 came and visited for Zoe's baptism! She served in 淡水 before and she was my companion for about six weeks LONGG ago... Love her LOTS and it was awesome to see her and 陳姐妹 again.
·Zoe brought her animals to her baptism so enjoy, we gave 'em a home.
·We visited a good friend and all of the sudden she pulls out this SUPER COOL instrument she brought from China and starts playing it, it was a happy time
·We're still visiting our friend in 八里 and yes we're so grateful that she showers us with food but also it makes life a little complicated when you have to ride up one of the MASSIVE hills here with a belly full of a whole fried fishy, apple juice (not again), and a peanut butter hamburger😭
·My comp 不小心and crashed into a woman biking. They're okay but as we left she said she's hit a dog before and now I'm a little concerned about her riding a bike thatisall

I wanted to share, I'm gonna sound a little church nerdy, but I LITERALLY thought to myself,
"I better shower pretty fast so I have time to read stories about Jesus"
and HOLY COW. I have never had a thought like that, let alone gotten excited about reading scriptures.

I'm finding that there are times on your mission that your worried about if the sacrifice you're making is worth it, if the hours spent worrying about the people around you are really gonna make a difference at all. Maybe we don't see it very soon but I'm starting to see a change in myself that I've wanted for a long time. It's not just a change in my scripture reading habits (even though that's pretty 還不錯) but its reflected in the way that I treat people and the way I come back from making mistakes. Even though I've got a long road to go it's really nice to see these changes in myself.

Stay safe, love you!

Dad jokes are universal

This week we continued to visit our friend in 八里, so we worked and cleaned up her flowers and her garden. We invited the bishop and his family and I've gotta tell you, his dad jokes are PRICELESS. At least the ones I could understand haha (don't worry dad, yours are better)~

Last week we got to go to the temple! Taiwans temple is opened up to stage three and we had three new converts who wanted to go and do baptisms! Going was a really special experience, one that I thought I appreciated before but just recently it's made a powerful impact on my life. One of the new converts who came is a 75 year old woman who sacrificed so much so she could be here and give her ancestors a chance to hear this Gospel. Watching her sacrifice time, effort and pride made it clear to me that our time on earth was given to us to work towards something bigger.

We did exchanges this week and it was so fun! Our new leaders are 黃姐妹 and 凌姐妹, one of which I served with the last two transfers! I love her and exchanges were a BLAST~

Zoe passed her baptismal interview! She's been meeting with lots of different missionaries for months and many will come up to see her be baptized. SO excited for her and so grateful for the hard work of missionaries before.

Other than that, I've been teaching my comp about vines and she's teaching me Taiwanese, so all is well here,
Love you lots!

Un poco loco

Now, you might be thinking, "Sister Suisse why is your subject line in Spanish? Do you speak Spanish?" no, I do not. Remember this.

This week my comp ran into a man on the train. She didn't understand what he was saying but coincidentally another member happened to be there and speak english~ miracles happened and they set up with him! So we met with this man from Spain on Tuesday and he mainly speaks Spanish but also speaks some english. Naturally we brought our Veitnamese friend with us (haha what) and we had our first lesson with 4 people who have complete different first languages. SO cool. I was like "come on 5 years of high school Spanish" and then guess what? I still can't speak Spanish haha. But we're meeting with him again this week on Thursday with Spanish speaking elders so it'll go a little smoother.

This week was awesome! We got to go to 八里,the super cool "like an island but actually is not but I will refer to it as an island" and it was beautiful! Pictures below, and the air is so clean there! We went there to find our friends mom and she has a whole garden on her home on the fifth floor. BEAUTIFUL. She sent us home with veggies for days. And for pday today we got to go to 陽明山 which is a beautiful place that has so many lilies and a volcano!

This week we also got to watch an amazing devotional from Elder Gong ~A while ago he gave my all time favorite talk "A Campfire of Faith" (look it up 吧)~ and when he talked about pearls, it got me. He talked about how the most valuable pearls are often the ones that don't fit our mold. I learned that I need to better realize people shouldn't have to fit the mold I have for them, and that the worth of others is always more than we think. Keeping this perspective in mind will help us see changes in ourselves and in others.

Love you all, be safe!

To be continued...
